FAQs

Why work with me?

I work with families, children, tweens, teens, and parents.  I help parents deal with parenting challenges and family conflict, and teach them effective ways to connect and create a meaningful relationship with their child.  I also support individuals of all ages with building their social emotional skills and various mental health challenges.  I am an avid reader and researcher, so I stay up to date on the current parenting, brain, and child development research.

Who can participate in Parent Coaching?

Parent Coaching is open to anyone who is caring for a child or children: parents; foster parents; grandparents;  married, co-parenting or single parents. You may attend alone, you may
attend with your partner or another adult who cares for your children.

How do I know you will be a good match for me?

Connection is so important and critical in the therapeutic process. Therefore, please reach out and schedule a ½ hour intro session at no charge.  It gives us a chance to meet, and for you to ask me any questions you have.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s hard to say.  The first session is learning more about you, your family, your history,
challenges and goals so we can determine a path forward.  For some, they need help with one
particular issue and for others it is more complicated, delving into patterns of behaviour and talking through challenging situations.  Let’s talk so we can figure it out!

Are you only a parent coach?

Although a lot of my time is spent coaching parents, I also see individuals of all ages for social emotional skill building and various mental health challenges.

Do I need to live in Canada?

My license covers counselling and coaching internationally. So, although I live in Toronto, I can work with anyone, anywhere.

What do you charge?

Depending upon your insurance provider, my services may or may not be covered.  I am happy
to provide you with a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
I believe that everyone should have access to affordable mental health resources.  I realize that
the cost of coaching and counselling makes it difficult for many to access so I offer reduced fees on a case by case basis.  Please contact me to discuss this in more detail.

Do you offer counselling/ coaching via phone or in person?

I offer “face-to-face” sessions via Zoom or sessions via phone. I also see clients in person with an office conveniently located at Leaside Therapy Centre in Midtown Toronto.
