Welcome!
I am so glad you have found your way here.
I am a child and family counsellor, parenting coach,
workshop facilitator and speaker.

Life gets hard and messy sometimes. Sometimes it knocks you down and makes you question everything. Here is the good news: we learn and grow the most by prevailing through the hard times and digging deep.

That said, it takes awareness and courage to press the pause button and be vulnerable.

The word courage originally meant,
“To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart.”
I invite you to be courageous and reach out to me. Connect to someone who will listen without judgement so you can be seen and heard. Share and explore your feelings and lived experiences so you can move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity, with whatever challenge you may be facing.
We will do it together.
Warm Regards,
Ulrica
My Story
For as long as I can remember, I have always been curious about human nature: the good, the bad and the ugly. People and relationships have always been the focus in my personal and professional life.

Through my work, education and personal life experiences, I have come to appreciate the critical importance of connection in all human relationships, the relationship between behaviour and human development, and the value of understanding and embracing our
emotions.
I started True Compass because I wanted to make a direct impact on families’ lives. What started out as parent coaching, has now evolved to include child and family counselling, parent workshops and social emotional coaching for all ages. My purpose now is to teach others how to be curious about themselves. The WHY and HOW. Why do we react the way we do to life's challenges and HOW do we learn to positively respond in ways that feel effective and authentic, based on our values and moral compass?

I spend every day helping others take a deeper dive into these concepts in one way or another. I work with children as young as 5 and my oldest client is 75. It's never too early to start and it's never too late to learn.
I spend a great deal of time focussed on coaching parents one-on-one how to build meaningful relationships with their children by reflecting on the past, setting goals (with a plan on how to achieve them!) for the future and learning how to be present in the moment.
I help parents to understand how to parent from a place of love and empathy, while also not losing sight of the importance of setting limits and boundaries for their children.

You may find me delivering an engaging presentation to a group of parents who aren’t necessarily in crisis. They just want to do better, learn how to be the parent they want to be, maybe learn how to yell less, listen and connect more.
Corporations and organizations are inviting me to deliver workshops to their employees to support their mental health by providing accessible opportunities to learn about social and emotional awareness, emotional intelligence and effective communication skills. Employees who are parents or caregivers are given opportunities to learn how to connect in a more meaningful way to their children and how to overcome some of the most common parenting challenges by learning practical tools and strategies.
We learned all about reading, writing and arithmetic growing up, but most of us didn't have the opportunity to consciously learn about being human. How to handle our own big feelings, thoughts, emotions, and life's ups and downs. Let alone how to teach the little humans in our lives how to handle them.

Let's start now, together.

I have known for a long time that my superpower is my ability to connect with and support others in an authentic and meaningful way.
I am so fortunate I now get to do this work each and every day.
My Purpose
To help you understand how I might be able to support you,
here are my six main areas of focus:

-
Educate, support and empower parents and caregivers how to build and maintain meaningful relationships with their children (through one-on-one coaching or parent group coaching).

-
Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to parent groups on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to, how to build meaningful connection, how to support your child's anxiety, how to set boundaries and how to work with, rather than against technology and screen time. (More information can be found in the Presentations, Workshops & Webinars section.)

-
Provide counselling services to individuals (ages 5 and up) within the area of mental health, social and emotional well-being.

-
Support the work of educators by teaching students’ social emotional skills and provide resources on how to build a socially and emotionally positive classroom.

-
Offer corporations an opportunity to support their employees’ mental health and well-being with parent workshops and/or social emotional learning workshops.

-
Provide counselling services to those with financial restraints and workshops to community organizations and not-for-profits for a significantly reduced fee or sliding scale. Financial restraints should never stand in the way of mental health and wellness or social emotional learning.
